Being a musician is hard. Was there ever a time where only your music would be all you need to succeed in this industry? Even if music was just a hobby, one can’t help but want to sing or play to a crowd whether in person or to an online audience. But even than, you need cash to buy the instrument, cash for the pedals and amps, for the guitar pics, the decks, for the case, for your computer and even Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, there are a lot of conditions that at some points may be unfair for an artist that wants to thrive in the industry. It is almost an oxymoron to even correlate music with the word industry. But that is how it is in the world. That was how someone in the beginning of the entertainment paradigm outlined it for us before we were even born.

We all grew up watching cool music videos. Some were even life impacting and stuck to our visual memories forever, watching our favorite songs from our favorite artists finally come to life on a tv, or nowadays your phone or tablet. And than comes our memories. I would watch a music video from 20 years ago and man would it bring back some nostalgia about freer times, youthful times, where I was and what friends I had. Music videos really do in a way have a place in our inner halls.
There would be a time before social media, where a music video being released was like a movie. There would be hype and a behind the scenes videos and small 10 minute documentaries about the making of a music video, which was purposely set to anticipate us for the launch. It was an event! A event and feeling that I don’t think we will ever get back. But we can always try.
From Guru.com they write “In the U.S., most videographers charge between $2,000 and $5,000 to produce a complete music video. Some music videos cost more, depending on the level of professionalism and quality needed. For instance, the average cost of a studio-sponsored music video ranges between $100,000 and $500,000.”
THIS is probably why I’ve never made a music video for my hundreds of songs I’ve written and recorded throughout my life. Also where I was located and the lack of willing resources made it very hard to get a band. Also I was not the best singer. Either way, for the average musician who just wants to advertise and promote their music in the visual medium, it sounds like a down payment for a new car, just to film a 2:50 song you wrote with your lads in the garage. But I don’t want to take away the hard work a videographer has to endure. When it comes to their art, the equipment the time and travel, editing, re-editing, so on and so forth, it does justifiably add up.

While there could be at some point, we would charge rates like that, it would really be for people or labels with higher budgets. But one thing I always thought was, why can’t someone with a couple hundred dollars not get at least a nice simple but good looking video with the resources that they already have? And how can they get that money back, without waiting for 100000 subscribers so YouTube can finally monetize you or for your next sellout show that you already put money into before you break even. What can DMV TV do different to help you?
Let’s get to details. For a simple but good looking music video with one location or vicinity, we charge between $250 to $350 in the DMV area. This includes all of Washington DC, all of Northern Virginia and the DC Metropolitan areas of Maryland. For northern Virginia, the most south we go for the rates ends at Stafford. West we end at Marshall so exit 23-29 on 66 west. North we go to Purceville, Berryville Round Hill area, basically at the edge of West Virginia. East side we end at the water lol. Maryland includes Wheaton, silver spring, Bethesda, Friendship heights, basically any spots the metro can reach.
Check our DMV TV app and channel.

Songs that are between 2:10 to 3:30 are $350. This includes filming in Cinema 4k, editing and two free re-edits (depending on complexity of request). Any additional re-edit request is $50. Your video will be instantly monetized on DMV TV platform at a rate higher than Spotify.

We also require payment of parking if paid parking is necessary. Anything past our location boundaries listed above will be the standard mileage rate of .65 cents a mile after the first 10 miles total (departing and returning) from our zip code 22032. For example 22032 to Richmond is 206 miles total there and back. Subtract 10 miles to make it 196 miles x .65 is $127. No change counted.
NOTE: At the time of this article being written, we are only monetized on all Android platforms, iOS, Roku, Google TV and Fire TV. We are not monetized on LG TV, Samsung or Apple TV yet.
ADDITIONAL MONETIZATION NOTE: Not all songs will be eligible for DMV TV platform. This is at the discretion of our collective, depending on lyrics, quality of audio recording, quality of song, inappropriateness or message. We understand about keeping it edgy, we seldom turn down songs on the channel. But please, this is not to discredit your work. I, the creator of DMV TV, have my own songs that I love, adore, cherish and professionally recorded, that can’t even make it on my own platform! Because I know it’s not fitting for DMV TV. So please do not take it as an insult in any way.

The monetization comes from ad views and Unique video views and impressions. There are conditions however that will not count as a view, such as playing your video over and over on repeat or using AI software that can we auto detect and manually detect. Our lowest rates are still higher than the highest Spotify rates. We start at .006 to .009 per unique views, impressions and ad view. Our goal is to become way higher than this, but as a start up, this is still better than YouTubes monetization outline, and Spotify rates.
We also will promote your music on all of our social media accounts including tagging and mentioning. FREE. Does YouTube, Bandcamp or Spotify do this? (Maybe? I haven’t seen it) Please give me a text at 571-659-5512.
We also pay higher than Bandcamp if you want your own store on DMV TV.
