Where we are in today’s future

DMV TV has been speaking with DMV Music Alliance for the last few weeks in December 2023. It has been great reaching out with them since we are both aiming for the same goals inside the DMV. But who is the DMV Music Alliance? Let’s take a look.

This is an excerpt from the organization’s About:

“Developed by DMV area music professionals for area music professionals, our goals are dedicated to bringing together the organizations and individuals so that together we can develop the services, resources, networks, and tools needed for both our regional musicians as well as our regional industry professionals – from every area genre, role in the industry, background, and area – to grow their careers in music here in the DMV – but with a unique approach.

It takes a holistic look at the entire music ecosystem and any integral ecosystems that should be a part of the entire spectrum of support services.
As an outside-in organization, we let the musicians and industry professionals have a key say in what services our network offers.
With a team-based corporate philosophy, we all come together as equals, regardless of whether you have been working in the industry for decades or just a year, regardless of the part of the industry, and regardless of genre.
Just like “It takes a village to raise a child”, so doesn’t it take an entire community to come together in order for our musicians and industry professionals to develop and flourish, and to be able to realize their hopes and dreams, thus everything we do is in conjunction with our community partners.”

DMV Music Alliance MIE Program

The MIE (Music Industry Experience) Program, which connects community partners with a diverse pool of students, mentorees, interns, volunteers, and other promising professionals who are eager to gain real-world experience from, contribute their skills to, and receive mentorship in one or more facets of the music industry. These individuals include aspiring musicians, producers, event planners, marketing professionals, and more.

The DMV Music Alliance team provides ongoing support and guidance to both volunteers and participating community partners throughout the season, beginning with the application, where they carefully assess the skills, interests, and goals of each applicant as well as the needs and objectives of each community partner to ensure a suitable match between the individual and the community partner.

Community partners, comprised of non-profit organizations and for-profit companies within Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, include venues, recording studios, artist managers, non-profits, media companies, and more.
